Give a device an allowed area. Know when it reports outside it.
View reported device positions on a map and define circular geofences around the sites they serve. An outside-area report creates an operational notification; entry and exit transitions can also run selected API triggers.
See an allowed-area workflowView locations and set an allowed area
Open reported positions for one device or select several to view them together.
- With device-edit permission, choose a center, set a radius in meters, and enable the area.
- Use Save to all to apply the area and selected triggers to devices in the multi-device view.
A device without reported coordinates has no location map to edit.
Respond to boundary changes
| Reported position | Notification | Selected trigger |
|---|---|---|
| Outside the enabled area | The outside-area condition becomes active. | The exit trigger runs on the change to outside. |
| Still outside | The condition stays active. | Repeated reports do not rerun the exit trigger. |
| Back inside | The device leaves the active outside-area condition. | The entry trigger runs on the return. |
| No usable coordinates | The report cannot be evaluated. | No new location transition is available. |
The first evaluated position can activate an exit trigger if it is outside. A previous inside report is not required. Entry and exit triggers are optional and can differ.
